Hello, I'm referring to the picture found on the site of Grosbous. I'm
the little girl in front. My name is Weimerskirch Florence and I'm the
granddaughter of Weimerskirch Jean (Jängy) and Fug Anni. On the picture
you find from left to right Jängy Weimerskirch, brother of Adolph, born
in avril 1900, the neighbor Hoffmann ? a farmer from across, aunt
Marguerite Heirendt, at this moment not Elsen yet, Gaby?, the daughter
from Hoffmann and my grandmother Anni Fug, born in 1909. My grandfather
died in 1989 and my grandma in 1998.
My family has lived in the industrial south of our country, where I'm
living yet, precisly in Esch/Alzette, where the parents of my grandma
have lived, nearly in the neighborhood, so like the family Weimerskirch
with their daughter Josée, who is my mother. She lives in Folschette
near Grosbous, so back to the basis. Jängy was an industrial worker on
the iron concern ARBED. He was the light of my life, because he brouht
up his natural borned granddaughter with a lot of humour and sensibility.

The first one is a photo that Adolph had taken in Chicago around 1916 we think

The second one is probably when he was on furlough in 1919 on leave from France to visit his family in Grosbous.
He’s with his mother and we think the man is his step-father, Sebastian Heinrendt.

His father Pierre died when Adolph was very young and his mother remarried a few years later to Sebastian. I have no idea what the uniform that he’s wearing is. I’m assuming this is his mother’s home.

Also, I was thinking it might be helpful for you to know about Adolph’s brothers and half-sister. This is what we know:

Guillame/Wilhelm (b. 1897) moved to the US
Franz/Francis (b.1898) moved to the US
Jean was born in 1900 and was a police officer in Grosbous his whole life *Perhaps he has descendants there still? Jean died in 1989.

Marguerite Heinrendt was born in 1907 and my mom has letters written by her; they’re in French, so I have to have someone here translate.
((N.B.: I knew her very well, and his first husband Albert Milbert and the second Jos Elsen. As per Albertine & Armand Rassel-Elsen she died 15.1.1987 -- FernP Note))

WOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is all so exciting for me and for my family! It makes me feel like I’m getting to know my grandfather even though he passed before I was born. My mom said that maybe sometime we should go to Grosbous and see where he lived and meet the people there. That would be great!

I am only an hour from Akron! I am near there a lot because I’m a doctoral student and professor at Kent State University. I can’t believe how close you lived to me! That is great!

NB: Working for Goodyear I went to several Seminar at Kent State University. I very well remembered on Main street in Akron a Steak House owned by a German descendant and he served us steaks you really could not eat up completely. Enough for one week, instead of one evening - FernP

As far as Cleveland is concerned, I worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber, in the Technical Center here in Luxembourg and I spent one year in Akron Ohio with my family. During my career at Goodyear I came one or two times a year to Akron, thru Cleveland.

My family lives near Cleveland, Ohio. My mom is one of three girls that Adolph Weimer (he shortened his name) and Mary Callaghan had. I’ll send a picture along of the whole group at my wedding, which was last year.

I’m not sure what else to write about, but I’d be happy to answer any questions. I was very close to my Grandma (Adolph’s wife) who just passed away two years ago at the age of 95. She had my Grandpa’s bugle from WWI that is written about in the biography that accompanies that 1910 photo, but my Aunt Dorothy has the bugle now. We also have his old violin. I have several of his WWI medals, his uniform, and photographs. I’ll attach a couple picture of Adolph as well.

Wow…I just spent all evening (it’s now 3 a.m.) on a website that gave me so much information! I must go to sleep, though. J I have a lot of information about Adolph’s ancestors, but would love to know if there are any living relatives. I’m attaching what I know.

I asked my mom to look at the picture that we were discussing earlier and she too picked out number 8 as my grandfather. The only issue is that we thought he immigrated in 1913, so we’re not 100% sure. It does look like him, though…so maybe he came a little earlier. She didn’t recognize anyone else in the picture.

Hello, once again! I’m sorry I keep writing, but this is the first time in a long time I’ve found anything about my grandfather so I’m excited! J I found the Schobermesse booklets and was wondering if you can tell what it says on page 16 of the 1908 booklet about Peter Weimerskirsch? http://www.skokiehistory.info/schobermesse/1908.pdf The language and handwriting makes it difficult for me, and my guess is that you may be able to read it much better than I can! I can’t tell if this is my Great Grandfather or not. Or perhaps you might know someone to forward this question to? Any help you can give me is so much appreciated! Yes, I’m sorry I wasn’t very specific…I was excited and called my mom right away! J It is the photo at

of the 11 people on Ridge Ave. in Chicago. The notes underneath refer to my grandfather, Adolph, in number 7.

Born 11 Feb 1895 in Grosbous to Pierre Weimerskirch and Marie (nee Dellere.) (both born 1867) Adolph immigrated to Chicago and stayed with the Gilsons, his cousins.
Adolph’s siblings are: Franz, Guillame, Jean, and Margueritte. Pierre’s parents were Jean Weymerskirch and Anna Elensohn. We know very little about his life before he came to the U.S. My cousin visited Grosbous several years ago and found some information which is how I know the above. He passed away in 1970. His second wife, my grandmother, just passed away two years ago.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me! My aunts and mother are very excited to have found something from their father’s past!

I did a google search on my grandfather, Adolph Weimerskirch, and was excited to find your photo! Adolph was born in Grosbous on 11 Feb 1895. He immigrated to Chicago and lived with his cousins, the Gilsons. The information you have on this page about him does make sense…he was a musician in WWI. I believe he is number 8 in the photograph! Please let me know any other info you may have come across in your research.
